Individual & Group Therapy for Preteens, Teens, and Young Adults

Serving Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, Sandy Springs, and East Cobb

Empowering adolescents through the ups and downs

Providing compassionate support for anxiety,
eating disorders, and perfectionism

Navigating the adolescent and young adult years can be really tough for both parents and children. The challenges that come with this phase can often be overwhelming, often leading to low self-esteem and anxiety. However, there is hope in the journey ahead.

If you are dealing with the ups and downs of:

  • constant self-doubt

  • comparison to others

  • the pressure of perfectionism

  • a negative relationship with food and body

I offer tools to help teens and young adults harness their inner strength, cultivate self-acceptance and confidence, and embrace the changes.

I’m Chelyan.

I’m a therapist who loves working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate seasons of change and transition. My clients appreciate my humor and relatability in our sessions. I frequently “walk the walk” alongside my clients by going outside of my own comfort zone and trying new things.

Services

I specialize in working with preteens, teens,
and young adults.

My clients typically come to me with the following concerns:

  • anxiety

  • social anxiety

  • eating disorders

  • obsessive compulsive disorder

  • negative body image

  • perfectionism

  • low self-esteem

  • difficulty navigating school or life changes

I offer a safe and supportive space for teens and young adults to understand their emotions and find ways to cope. In our sessions, we work on creative and engaging skills to utilize in daily life.

My approach is tailored to my client’s specific needs, and I create a nurturing environment for personal growth. My aim is to equip my clients with tools to manage anxiety, build resilience, and cultivate a positive self-image, using evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP).

When I first meet my clients they are often way too hard on themselves, unsure of how to handle their emotions, and constantly comparing themselves to their friends and classmates. They don't see how brilliant and wonderful they are despite being high achieving, kind, and sensitive individuals. Their anxiety, perfectionism, and overthinking often gets in the way of the life they want.

They feel like they don’t measure up, and their confidence in themselves is diminishing.

Their parents tell me that they recognize their own anxiety and insecurities in their child and they worry that they’ve passed it on. They feel like they are parenting their child's anxiety rather than parenting their kid. They want to see their kids thrive and support them through the bumpy adolescent and young adult years. They haven't quite figured it out for themselves, so they are unsure how to support their child and blame themselves a lot.

Parents - blaming yourself isn’t the most productive way to support your child but you can be really instrumental in the process. While most of work is directly with teens and young adults, I offer support for parents, too!

How Do I Get Started?

  • Contact me to set up a time for a 15-20 minute consultation call. During this call, you will share brief background information about yourself or the identified minor client. If we agree that it’s a good fit, then we will schedule a formal intake session. Intake sessions are $180 and can be scheduled in person or virtually.

  • Prior to the scheduled intake session, I will send you intake paperwork to complete through my online portal, Simple Practice. You will complete paperwork and sign documents at least 24 hours prior to the intake session to give me time to review and prepare for our session.

  • We get to meet! During formal intake sessions, we will do a more in depth background and assessment. At this time, I will also make necessary clinical recommendations and referrals for additional treatment team providers or confirm collaboration of care with existing providers. Depending on the presenting concerns, some intake sessions are split between minor clients and parents.

  • We will decide on a recurring weekly appointment time for at least 5-6 weeks. I know schedules are busy and other things come up, however, I’ve found that this commitment can help clients feel more comfortable in setting a foundation for a therapeutic relationship and building rapport. After 5-6 weeks, we will discuss if stepping to every other week sessions is clinically appropriate depending on treatment goals.

If you are looking for support, I’d be honored to work
towards growth together.
